Happy Veteran's Day.
In honor of our brave men and women who sacrifice so much for our freedoms, I am re-posting this blog from my time working with them in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
A true Beautician -- no matter what his or her specialty -- gets tremendous satisfaction from fulfilling his or her client's beauty desires. And, we genuinely like our clients and consider many of them "family."
As a true Beautician, traveling 3,000 miles from home, couldn't keep me away from touching people's lives in a positive way.
Since January, I have had the wonderful blessing of serving our brave men and women of the military here in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
As the Skincare and hair removal specialist at the Stylique Spa, I am very impressed with not only our skincare products -- Alcina -- thank you Dr. Kurt Wolff, and our deplieve cream body wax.
Most impressive, however, are the wonderful clients. Whether my client is a soldier, a soldier's dependent, a contract worker or a fellow beautician, the clients here are great.
I admire all of their strength and loyalty to serving our country. There are the typical Army stresses and challenges, but also imagine having to be in the field for months, and not being able to shape your eyebrows, watching your beautifully defined eyebrow arch slowly being buried among random stragglers.
Or, surrendering to those ill-placed hairs having their way because you cannot get to a hair-removal specialist.
And, your skin -- well, that's a whole 'nother story. Imagine not being able to give your face a proper cleansing as it is being exposed daily to foreign elements. Yikes!
So many clients are young, away from home for the first time, and have tremendous attitudes, resilience and determination.
Kudos to our brave men and women, serving in Germany. While U.S. leaders may not have time to visit you during recent (4.25.16) visits here in Germany. I salute you and thank you deeply for your service to defending Freedom everywhere.
